Chasing Ultrarunners Around Mont Blanc for ASICS Beat the Sun
We teamed up with EPIC TV to provide unprecedented aerial coverage of an ultrarace that sped around 3 Alpine countries in just 1 day. Working alongside their helicopter cameraman, we captured runners up close and personal as they stormed up and down the steep slopes of Mont Blanc. Our pilots are authorised to fly in all European countries, which helped massively on this shoot. Our lightweight drones can be carried in a rucksack up the mountain, meaning we were able to get to multiple launch zones during the race.
ASICS Beat The Sun is regarded as nature’s toughest relay, the event saw 5 continental teams battle it out against each other, while also attempting to become the first team to beat the sun around the legendary Mont Blanc. They had just between sunrise and sunset, 15 hours, 41 minutes and 35 seconds, to cover 148km between them. Each team featured three professional athletes and three amateurs, racing in relay to become the first team around Mont Blanc – the highest peak in Western-Europe at 4,810m – while passing through France, Italy and Switzerland as they attempt to ‘beat the sun’ in the ultimate challenge. The teams represented America, Asia-Pacific and Africa, Southern Europe and Northern Europe. An incredible race, and an unbelievable challenge.
